Walking 25km in Memory of My Sister Laura

On Saturday August 9th, I’ll be walking 25km across the Mornington Peninsula in memory of my sister, Laura Davis, and to help raise money for Rare Cancers Australia.

2025 marks six years since Laura lost her hard-fought battle with a rare form of oesophageal cancer. She went through three years of treatment and hospital stays with a kind of strength that still leaves me in awe. Through it all, she kept her brilliant sense of humour, her deep belly laugh, and that big, magnetic personality that made people feel instantly at home around her. She was one of those people you just never forget.

I didn’t know about Rare Cancers Australia at the time, but I wish I had. They support patients and families facing some of the most complex and least understood cancer diagnoses, often with fewer treatment options and less attention. The work they do makes an enormous difference, and I’d love to support them in Laura’s name.

My goal is to raise $5,000, and hopefully create something that becomes a yearly walk in her memory.

If you're in or around the Mornington Peninsula and feel like joining me on the walk, I'd love the company. And if you're able to make a donation to support the cause, I’d be so grateful.

For Laura. For others still fighting.
