Wednesday 19th Feb Help Our Mum Battle Stage 4 Ovarian Cancer with Life-Saving Immunotherapy In October 2023, our lives were turned upside down when our beautiful mum, Thi, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer with a rare subtype. Since then, her journey has been one of incredible strength and resilience. We are now seeking your support to fund a life-saving immunotherapy treatment not covered by the PBS. The immunotherapy schedule involves 17 cycles up to 2 years with 2 drugs that target different cancer cell receptors, each cycle costs $15,000. We have funded the first cycle and are currently in the middle of the second cycle. Our mother has always been the heart of our family, known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support. In October 2023, she received the devastating diagnosis of ovarian clear cell carcinoma (stage 1). Despite our initial hope, the battle quickly became more challenging than we could have ever anticipated. Shortly after the diagnosis, Mum underwent extensive surgery to remove the cancer. Chemotherapy followed, we thought we had won the battle, but soon after, a new growth was detected. Chemotherapy had failed to halt the cancer's progression. Within just four months she had to undergo another major surgery. During her recovery and one month stay in the hospital, we found out that the cancer had advanced to stage 4. Our world was shattered. Currently, Mum is facing the toughest battle of her life. Her doctors have recommended an innovative immunotherapy treatment that has shown promising results in other rare cancers. Unfortunately, this treatment is not covered by the PBS, making it financially out of reach for our family. We are left with no other option but to seek help. We are reaching out to you, our friends, family, and compassionate strangers, to help us fund this crucial immunotherapy treatment. Every dollar raised will go directly towards covering the cost of the treatment and associated medical expenses. Mum has always been a fighter. Even in the face of these relentless challenges, she remains hopeful and determined. She dreams of seeing her grandchildren grow up and continuing to bring joy to everyone around her.
